💙 Hello Friends 💙
WHAT HAPPENS AT A CIRS HEALING GRIEF CIRCLE?
- Grief circles are private rituals for CIRS folks to share feelings around what has been lost or what has changed with CIRS and in recovery. I offer this each change of the season.
- People are invited to share feelings from the heart versus replaying intense events or stories that could cause overwhelm. The focus is on, How is the loss impacting you? What needs to be released?
- Many CIRS patients don’t have people in their lives that understand the depth of loss and personal experience of grief related to chronic illness. This is a safe place to be vulnerable and share what really needs to be said for the purpose of moving feelings through the body.
- Grief Circles are held online via Zoom in the spirit of Council, a tradition which arose from many Indigenous cultures. I’ve been trained by The Center for Council to hold these spaces in a culturally appropriate and supportive way. Read more about Council HERE.
- For people who feel they can be present for others, there is no need to have to provide verbal support to others. You simply listen kindly, speak on your turn and remember that you are not alone in your grief and sadness.
- Grieving is related to love. When we honor and speak about what we love in a sacred way, this allows the grief to transform into acceptance, peace and inner strength.
